Is the Disaster Prevention Measure in place in Komono Town flawless?
Disasters are unexpected. However, certain measurers can be taken to keep damage to a minimum.
A Komono Disaster Prevention Map has been created in order to let everyone know about places of danger in Komono Town and this Map is distributed to various families and companies.
Disaster Prevention Map Contents:
・Earthquakes
・Evacuation Procedures
・Shelters
・Map of Shelters
・Disaster Information
The Disaster Prevention Map is available at the General Affairs Division of the Town Hall and various other offices. It can also be downloaded from the Town’s website.
If a disaster is predicted or a disaster breaks out, there are temporary shelters in various districts.
For your nearest shelter, please refer to the Disaster Prevention Map or see the Town’s Homepage.

 ◆ Shelters
The first place where people should gather in an emergency is a shelter, and there are currently 49 public spaces for this use in various areas of Komono Town.
Based on the information given from the shelter and depending on the circumstances of the disaster, you may be requested to help with rescue efforts. Also, depending on the disaster, you may be asked to move to a large-scale shelter.

 ◆ Large-Scale Shelters
There are currently five large-scale shelters in Komono Town, which include schools in various districts.
In these large-scale shelters, representatives of the Headquarters for Disaster Control are present to aid victims of disasters.
Furthermore, if the capacity for victims of a disaster crosses over the maximum capacity for a large-scale shelter, nurseries and Kindergarten are utilised.

● Radio Communications for Emergencies

Komono Town provides each house with a radio communication service with frequent notices about disaster information. If this communication box exceeds two per household or is used for a company, then a charge is incurred, otherwise it is a free service.
In an emergency situation, listen carefully to the reports and check the batteries etc daily.

 ◆ Loan of Communication Box
Apply for this at the Town Hall’s General Affairs Division. Depending on where you live, this may take up to 10 minutes to organise, but you should be able to take the device home with you.
For those moving into or leaving Komono Town, please do not forget to notify the Town Hall.

◆ Communication Box has bad reception
Weather and climate may interfere with reception.
If your communication box suddenly becomes bad, please move it to a new place in your house. If this does not have the required effect, it may need replacing. We apologise for the inconvenience, but in this case you will be required to come to the Town Hall’s General Affairs Division for a replacement.

 ◆ Moving House
If you are moving house, but are staying in Komono Town, then you will need a new Communication Box Device for your new area. Please apply for this at the Town Hall’s General Affairs Division. If you are moving out of Komono Town, please return the Communications Box, as it is unusable elsewhere.

 ◆ Other
For information on how to use the Communications Box etc, please see p. 2 of the Disaster Prevention Map or the Town’s Homepage.
